My Grandfather Al was quite the character; he would perform magic, light sparklers, and make salad all at the same time (or so I remember). He would start his salad with a huge wooden bowl, and he would rub a whole clove of garlic all over the inside of the bowl before anything else. Then he would make the dressing in the bowl, and add the salad on top of the dressing. It was quite the tableside service, and a great family memory. He told me about the Secret Ingredient when I was a kid. My brother and I guard it with our lives...!
